About the book

Few topics stir more controversy—or more discomfort—than the Bible’s relationship with slavery. For generations, voices on both sides have wrestled with the question: Does Scripture condone it, challenge it, or something else entirely?

Bound in Lies steps boldly into this centuries-old debate, pulling no punches and leaving no stone unturned. With a sharp eye for history, theology, and cultural context, Brandon Simpkins invites readers to re-examine the biblical texts that have been cited—and contested—for generations.

Far from offering easy answers or familiar conclusions, this book offers a compelling and balanced exploration designed to challenge assumptions, stir dialogue, and prompt deeper reflection. Whether you're a person of faith, a skeptic, or someone simply seeking clarity, Bound in Lies offers a gripping, respectful journey into one of the Bible’s most controversial subjects.

This isn’t about affirming what you already believe—it’s about discovering what you may have missed

About the Author

Brandon Simpkins studied Theology at Bethany Training Center (formerly Pinecrest Bible Training Center), where he developed a passion for pursuing biblical truth beyond opinions or speculation. He believes truth never fears scrutiny and wrote Bound in Lies: The Biblical Case Against Slavery to confront some of the hardest questions about Scripture head-on.

His goal is not only to equip believers with confidence in God’s Word but also to provide a resource for those wrestling to reconcile faith with difficult texts. By engaging critics with honesty and evidence, Brandon seeks to build a bridge between apologetics and doubt, showing that the God of the Bible is consistent, good, and trustworthy.

He serves at Bethel Church in Blackwood, NJ, and has been joyfully married to his wife, Alicia, for 15 years. Together they are raising three wonderful children.
