About Bound in Lies

Bound in Lies is a Christian apologetics ministry dedicated to confronting hard questions and exposing the false narratives that distort Scripture, history, and theology.

In a culture that often treats faith as either blind sentiment or something to be quietly abandoned under scrutiny, Bound in Lies exists to do the opposite—to engage honestly, think critically, and defend Christianity with clarity and conviction. The ministry addresses misunderstood passages, controversial doctrines, and difficult moments in church history that are frequently used to discredit the Bible.

Rather than offering shallow answers or avoiding tension, Bound in Lies insists that truth can withstand examination. It seeks to restore confidence in Scripture, challenge cultural assumptions, and remind believers and skeptics alike that Christianity does not collapse under scrutiny—only the lies told about it do.

Our logo reflects the mission. The bound hands represent humanity constrained by false narratives, cultural assumptions, and misrepresentations of God. The cross stands at the center as a symbol of truth, where those chains are ultimately broken.

About the book

Few topics stir more controversy—or more discomfort—than the Bible’s relationship with slavery. For generations, voices on both sides have wrestled with the question: Does Scripture condone it, challenge it, or something else entirely?

Bound in Lies steps boldly into this centuries-old debate, pulling no punches and leaving no stone unturned. With a sharp eye for history, theology, and cultural context, Brandon Simpkins invites readers to re-examine the biblical texts that have been cited—and contested—for generations.

Far from offering easy answers or familiar conclusions, this book offers a compelling and balanced exploration designed to challenge assumptions, stir dialogue, and prompt deeper reflection. Whether you're a person of faith, a skeptic, or someone simply seeking clarity, Bound in Lies offers a gripping, respectful journey into one of the Bible’s most controversial subjects.

About the Author

A smiling man with glasses and a beard wearing a blue collared shirt outdoors with greenery and a fence in the background.

Brandon Simpkins studied Theology at Bethany Training Center (formerly Pinecrest Bible Training Center), where he developed a passion for pursuing biblical truth beyond opinions or speculation. He believes truth never fears scrutiny and wrote Bound in Lies: The Biblical Case Against Slavery to confront some of the hardest questions about Scripture head-on.

His goal is not only to equip believers with confidence in God’s Word but also to provide a resource for those wrestling to reconcile faith with difficult texts. By engaging critics with honesty and evidence, Brandon seeks to build a bridge between apologetics and doubt, showing that the God of the Bible is consistent, good, and trustworthy.

He serves at Bethel Church in Blackwood, NJ, and has been joyfully married to his wife, Alicia, for 15 years. Together they are raising three wonderful children.
